On 16 May, a meeting was held between representatives of the Tamil film industry and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on various demands, including allowing all films to be screened in theaters across the state with five screenings per day. The debate covered theater reforms, subsidies for low-budget films and entertainment taxes. After that debate, the government has now taken an important decision film industry.
The special rules of the shows have been explained
As per the Tamil Nadu Theater Rules Rules, 1957, theaters now run four shows a day under C-form license conditions. An additional fifth show is permitted on festivals and public holidays with the permission of the district authorities. Now, after considering the industry’s demand, the state government has officially revised the rules. New Tamil films will be allowed five screenings per day for the first seven days after release. In addition, five shows per day will be allowed on weekends, public holidays and local holidays, making the exhibition more flexible.
No separate approval is required for special shows during the first week
The revised order further simplifies the process for theater owners. The Tamil Nadu government announced that in the first seven days of a new film, and on weekends or holidays, separate permission from the licensing authorities will not be required for five shows. It is hoped that this will reduce the paperwork involved and help theater operators manage higher demand on busy days.
