Sharing the happy moment on Instagram, the best-selling author reflected on how quickly the years have flown by and expressed her admiration for the men her sons have become.Posting some family photos featuring his wife Anusha Suryanarayan and their son, Bhagat revealed that Ishaan graduated from Princeton University, while Shyam attended Dartmouth College.Looking back on his journey from childhood to adulthood, the author wrote a touching note. She wrote: “One moment, you’re in the maternity ward, seeing your babies for the first time as the doctors deliver your twins one by one. The next moment, you’re a graduate, graduating from college and all grown up. How fast it flies by. Is this it? Paal liye bacche?”Bhagat credited his sons for forging their own paths rather than depending on their father’s success and public profile. He praised their determination, writing, “So proud of my boys Ishaan (left) and Shyam (right), who both recently graduated from @Princeton and @dartmouthcollege respectively. They have worked hard to carve out their identity and their place in the world. While they have been lucky in many ways, I have been proud to see their whole family strive to achieve. If I grew up with a famous father surrounded by Bollywood, I’m sure I’d be a shameless bigda nawaab/ spolit brat/ aiyaash, but not you guys!”.The author highlighted the values they are most proud of as parents. “You guys have the drive, focus and determination to make something of yourself like I’ve rarely seen. You’ve not only done well academically or career-wise, but you’re humble, decent and great human beings. That’s what makes me even more proud,” he wrote.Acknowledging the challenges his sons have overcome, Bhagat ended his message with a heartfelt note saying, “There have been ups and downs, highs and lows, and yet you keep trying and never give up. In 2013, ‘Kai Po Che!’ When the film — adapted from Bhagat’s novel ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’ — hit the screens, Ishaan made his acting debut in the film at the age of eight.Recalling the experience of that time, Bhagat said, “They needed an eight-year-old boy to be very crucial in the film. I have twin sons Ishaan and Sham and Ishaan has played a small role in the film.” He also thanked director Abhishek Kapoor, saying, “Abhishek has honored an auteur and a father with this.”
