Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the last date for students to apply for scanned copies of examined answer books for class 12 board exams 2026.According to an official circular issued by the board, the last date has been extended from May 22, 2026 to May 23, 2026. The decision was taken after students faced technical issues on the CBSE post verification portal.The board said the extension is provided to ensure that students have enough time to complete the application process.

The CBSE issued the notice after students reported problems with the portal.

Earlier today, on May 19 itself, several students took to social media seeking clarification on the activation of the answer sheet access portal. Many students reported that the link provided on the official website is either not available or showing “Service Unavailable” message.Some students also expressed confusion about the difference between getting scanned copies of answer sheets and applying for re-examination.CBSE has now acknowledged the technical issue and issued a fresh notice extending the application deadline.Read the official notice Here

Revised Schedule for Scanned Copies of Answer Books

As per the revised schedule:

  • The original deadline was May 22, 2026.
  • The deadline for extension is now set to 23 May 2026.

Students can apply online to get scanned copies of their examined answer books through the official CBSE portal.

The re-examination process will begin later.

The board has clarified that the current application window is only for obtaining scanned copies of the examined answer sheets.Applications for verification of marks, reporting of discrepancy and revaluation will start from 26th May to 29th May 2026.CBSE had earlier informed the students to first review their checked answer sheets and then decide whether they want to apply for further verification or re-examination.

CBSE on assessment errors

Earlier, CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanem Bhardwaj had said that slight errors may occur during the evaluation process as the board evaluates around 1.25 crore answer scripts every year.The board has also clarified that the marks may increase or decrease after verification based on the findings of the expert panel.
