Riteish DeshmukhHistorical drama ‘Raja Shivaji’ has completed the censor process ahead of its May 1 release. The Marathi version runs for 195.05 minutes, which makes the film 3 hours, 15 minutes and 5 seconds long. The Central Board of Film Certification has cleared the film with a U/A 16+ certificate after asking the makers to make some changes, including replacing a scene of child violence.

As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the censoring process of ‘Raja Shivaji’ was completed on 24th April. The outlet reported that the CBFC’s Scrutiny Committee had asked the officials to amend the notice with a clearer and stronger wording, along with a voiceover.The makers also had to add an instruction to choose the title “Raja Shivaji”. They were asked to submit documents of all the historical references used in the film. CBFC also looked for a suitable script that matches the dialogues and songs of the film.

The management also instructed the team to add the exact dates of all the major events shown in the movie. He also asked them to insert text boards for historical events.The report added that the film suffered only two minor cuts. The footage of him slitting a little boy’s throat had to be replaced with an appropriate shot. The producers were asked to add audio for the muted visuals.With a running time of 195 minutes, ‘Raja Shivaji’ joins the growing list of Indian feature films that have crossed the three-hour mark. List ‘Animal’, which lasted 203 minutes, ‘Pushpa 2 – The Rule’ in 200 minutes, ‘Dhurandhar’ in 214 minutes, ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’ in 229 minutes and ‘Border 2’ in 199 minutes.‘Raja Shivaji’ stars Riteish Deshmukh as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The cast includes Genelia Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, Bhagyashree, Sachin Khedekar, Amole Gupte and Jitendra Joshi. Riteish and Genelia’s Mumbai Film Company is producing the film with Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios.
