
Yogi Adityanath He said that the stadium is being developed with the support of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, while another international cricket stadium is also under construction in Varanasi with the help of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said the Gorakhpur stadium will have a seating capacity of 30,000 people and will be spread over 46 acres. He added that parking facilities will also be available and another 60 acres of land has been earmarked for a sports complex for indoor games.
Terming the project as an effort to improve sports infrastructure and help young sportspersons, Yogi said the state government was providing encroachment-free land for sports development.
“With BCCI’s help, an international cricket stadium is being built in Varanasi. And today the UP government has laid the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium here with the support of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas… The stadium has a capacity of 30,000, is spread over 46 acres, and 6 acres of land will be earmarked for a park. A sports complex right next to it for indoor games… The double engine government is providing encroachment-free land where The future of the youth will be gilded,” CM Yogi said.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that Indian Oil Corporation has contributed Rs 60 crore for the project under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Puri also spoke about the Centre’s focus on sports and fitness through programs like the Fit India movement and Khelo India launched under Narendra Modi.
“I am happy to inform that Indian Oil Corporation, which works under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has contributed Rs 60 crore to this important initiative… Along with Fit India Movement and Khelo India, PM Modi has transformed fitness and sports into a people’s movement… Gorakhpur Stadium, which will be built on 45 acres of land, will have a capacity of 03,000 people,” said Hardeep Puri.
