Caleb Shomo comes out as gay
The singer and rock band leader recently took to social media to speak openly about his identity as a queer man. She began her post by writing, “There has been a lot of speculation about my personal life lately, and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love further.”He explained that he wanted to clarify things himself before the rumors spread further. He then added: “I’m a proud gay man. It’s something I’ve unpacked and taken into account in my life for quite some time. It’s been difficult to navigate the feelings around the issue and what to do with this event.”
Caleb Shomo says his identity has shaped his music
In the post, Shomo reflected on how his identity as a gay man has greatly influenced his music and creative process over the years.“I’ve always striven for who I am album after album in the deepest part of my soul,” he wrote.“If you’ve followed the band over the years, there are four albums about exploring my religious upbringing, depression, self-loathing, self-loathing and hope,” he added.
Caleb Shomo talks about his struggle with alcohol
In the same post, the singer addressed his long battle with alcohol and how it became a coping mechanism while dealing with his emotions.“I spent a decade burying my feelings with alcohol, and honestly, when I decided to quit and focus on why I felt the way I did for so long, it’s been the right path to come to terms with my sexuality in the hopes that it will eventually lead me to experience self-love,” she shared.Caleb Shomo is a founding member of Beartooth and is currently the only original member left since the group formed in 2012.
