BPSC Stenographer Exam 2026: Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has extended the date of entrance exam for the post of Stenographer which was scheduled to be held on 9 May 2026. In a notification published on Monday, the board said the exam will now be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Education and Skills: Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent degree from a recognized board. Also, one needs to have basic computer knowledge plus shorthand skills in Hindi and English.Age Limit: Minimum age of candidates is 18 years. Maximum age is different for different categories. It is 37 years for General (male) and BC/EBC (male and female). It is 40 years for General (female) and 42 years for SC/ST (male and female).Pay Scale: Candidates will be paid per level IV which starts from Rs.25500 and can go up to Rs.81100.Application Date: The application deadline ended on February 2, 2026.Selection Process: The recruitment process includes a written test and a practical test (skill test).Exam Pattern: The written test is objective or MCQ based which will have 150 questions of 600 marks. Each question will carry 4 marks and each wrong answer will carry -1 mark. The duration of the exam is 2 hours 15 minutes. The question paper consists of 50 questions from General Studies, 50 questions from General Science and Mathematics and 50 questions from Mental Ability (Reasoning, Comprehension, Logic).Minimum Qualifying Marks: A general candidate needs minimum 40% marks to qualify the exam. Meanwhile, the minimum qualifying marks for Backward Classes are 36.5%, 34% for EBC and 32% for SC/ST/Women and PwD.Syllabus Overview:General Studies will cover a wide range of topics including current affairs, scientific progress, awards, languages, important books, capital and currency, sports, Indian history, geography, and economy, constitution and political system, Panchayati Raj and various development schemes that promote governance at different levels. Special emphasis is also placed on the role of Bihar in the national movement.The General Science and Mathematics section covers basic science and mathematics concepts including physics, chemistry, biology, geography, and computer basics.
