The makers have finalized the OTT launch date. “Border 2” will hit streaming on Netflix from March 20, 2026. The update appeared on the Netflix India charts, marking an online release within two months of its theatrical release. The film has an ensemble cast Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjhand Ahan Shetty Teaming up with Deol. With its OTT debut set, it is poised to attract more viewers who love streaming movies from home.
The background of the 1971 war
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film takes place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, weaving a broad story of military conflict. Departing from the 1997 original Border’s focus on the Battle of Longewala, this sequel expands to multiple war fronts. It depicts the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force fighting Operation Chengiz Khan in Pakistan. Sunny Deol portrays Lt. Col. Fateh Singh Kaler, commanding an army battalion in fierce battles.
‘Border 2’ real life heroes
The narrative follows various officers fighting across the fronts. Varun plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra recipient famous for his bravery in the Battle of Basantar.
