Veteran actor Bhagyashree Maine became nostalgic for Pyar Kiya’s memories as she rekindled her relationship Salman Khan and the incredible craziness of the film. From revealing why she initially rejected the film to reminiscing about the sacks full of fan letters arriving at her home, Bhagyashree spoke about various untold moments from the cult classic.In a recent interview with Radio Nasha, when the host mentioned that filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya Earlier saying that Bhagyashree was reluctant to do Maine Pyar Kiya, she asked him, “You said no to Maine Pyar Kiya. Why?”Responding to this, Bhagyashree said, “I was 18 years old. I was going to college and I wanted to study more and go abroad. Films were never on my mind.”He also revealed that he kept making excuses to avoid signing the film.“I told Sooraj ji that I won’t wear certain types of clothes. I told him that I have to go to college and then I can shoot only. Every time I made an excuse, he had an answer ready. He would say, ‘We will adjust, but we only want you,'” he shared.

The conversation shifted to the legendary music of Maine Pyar Kiya, where the host asked how it felt to know that Lata Mangeshkar would be singing all the songs for her character.Bhagyashree replied, “Lata ji is from around Sangli, and Sangli is my hometown. So it was very special for me.”When asked to pick his favorite song from the film, the actor immediately chose Dil Deewana Bin Sajna Ke and even sang a few lines, leaving everyone smiling.

Talking about the iconic dialogue from the film, the host asked Bhagyashree if she ever imagined that “Dosti ki hai toh nibhana padega” would become such a huge pop culture line.Responding to this, the actor said that friendship is a bond that people choose for themselves.“Other relationships are those of blood or society. But friendship is a relationship we choose,” he said.He then recreated the iconic line and jokingly added, “Soch ke boliyega… dosti ki hai toh nibhana padega”.
“All the stairs were full of letter sacks”
The host also asked Bhagyashree when she realized that Maine Pyar Kiya had become something extraordinary.Recalling the frenzy after the film’s release, he said: “At that time the postmen used to come to the house. We lived on the first floor and all the stairs were full of Santa Claus-shaped sacks full of letters.”He added that this was the moment when the audience realized how much he connected with the film and his character Suman.
Bhagyashree praises Riteish and Genelia
Apart from Maine Pyar Kiya, Bhagyashree also talked about her latest film Raja Shivaji and praised Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza.“I think everyone loves Riteish and Genelia. They are the cutest couple in our film industry,” she said, adding that Riteish had put his “heart and soul” into the film.
