Even the film which opened in low number of screens could not find its footing among a crowded box office.Released on June 5, the film collected around Rs 50 lakh on its opening day in India and earned roughly Rs 60 lakh domestically from 1,365 shows, says a report on Sacnilk. The film recorded a relatively modest collection on Friday, June 5 amid stiff competition from other major releases that also hit the theaters.The film’s relatively limited number of screens and lower pre-release buzz were said to be some of the major factors behind its slow start. The film faced direct competition from Varun Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ and Ram Charan’s multilingual action drama ‘Peddi’, both of which attracted larger audiences on the opening day.Leading the race at the Hindi box office was “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai”, which collected around Rs 7.50 crore from 9,081 shows on Friday. The film’s Indian gross was approximately Rs 9 crores, while overseas markets brought in an additional Rs 2 crores, while the worldwide gross collection stood at Rs 11 crores.The family entertainer has garnered considerable attention as the veteran filmmaker’s latest director David DhawanWho is teaming up with son Varun Dhawan for the project.Meanwhile, Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ also had a strong opening weekend opening. The Hindi version of the film earned approximately Rs 3 crore on Friday, contributing to the film’s net collection in India of around Rs 51 crore. The Telugu version remained the main driver of the film’s performance, bringing in Rs 47.20 crore, while the Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada releases contributed around Rs 80 lakh.Despite a slow start, ‘Bandar’ has received a lot of support from members of the film fraternity and Bobby’s family. Sunny Deol He took to Instagram on Friday to cheer on his younger brother after the film’s release. Sharing a sketch of the film, he wrote, “Looking sooo gooood my Lord Bobby. #Bandar in cinemas on 5th June.”the actor Esha Deol he also praised Bobby’s performance in the film. Sharing a picture with Bobby and his wife Tanya Deol on Instagram Stories, he wrote, “You are in the best shape ever! Definitely the best actor today. Durable and vulnerable! Bye, bhaiya.”He also encouraged the audience to support the film in theaters, “Go see Banda!”It features an ensemble cast of Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra, Raj B Shetty, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Riddhi Sen, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajeet and Nagesh Bhonsle.
