‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ hits theaters on May 15, Ayushmann Khurrana celebrating an unexpected but meaningful connection Aamir Khan and the golden age of Hindi situation comedy. In an interview with Mid-Day, Ayushmann Khurrana took long inspiration from Aamir Khan’s comedy outings, and did not hide his admiration while talking about ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’.He said, “I’m a big fan of Aamir Khan, and I especially love his comedies and the way he dives into this genre of sitcoms! I feel Aamir is a true master of the genre with everything he does on screen. So I love that there’s an Aamir Khan connection in my film PPAWD! It just happened by chance, and I’m glad.”The decision to include the nostalgic track was driven solely by how it served the story. He said, “When we were making ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, we wanted a song that perfectly fit into the funny world and theme of the film. We found ‘Aaj Na Chhodunga Tujhe Duma Dum’ from Aamir sir’s ‘Dil’ and found it perfect for the situation my character is in in the film,” said Ayushmann.

Ayushmann drew a straight line between PPAWD and the beloved comedies he grew up watching. In the same interview, he said, “‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ is a situational comedy like Aamir’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ to name a few. These are the films I loved watching growing up, and honestly, I can watch them countless times even today!” he saidFor Ayushmann, the film represents a personal passion project and a gift to the public family. “I love making a film that’s basically a nod to the iconic comedies we’ve all grown up watching. I hope PPAWD entertains everyone with its clean and brilliant comedy in theaters that all families can come and enjoy together,” he added.
