Speaking to Hindustan Times ahead of the April 24 release, the actor opened up about his unexpected source of social media attention, his very real feelings about marriage and family and why despite playing a fighter this time, he still wants that scene where girls really look up to him. When asked whether the producers of the interview asked Avinash Tiwary to take off his shirt, the actor backtracked, only to be gently corrected by his co-star. Avinash initially insisted that he remained shirtless only in two films, at which point, ‘Ginny Weds Sunny 2’, Medha Shankar reminded him of ‘Madgaon Express’. “It’s three movies, then,” Avinash agreed with a laugh.But Tiwary was quick to add important context. “None of them were shown with a desirability factor. Even O’Romeon, it was a macho thing.” In ‘Ginny Weds Sunny 2’, her character Sunny is a pehelwan, an Indian wrestler whose shirtless moment comes in the akharan, firmly in the context of sport and strength rather than romance or glamour.

Despite his shirtless scenes and his reputation as one of Bollywood’s most physically transformed actors in recent years, Avinash Tiwary says the attention he received from women has been modest.“I think I got more DMs (on social media) from men than women for it. All the bros at the gym were like, ‘Nice body bro!'”Asked if there was more female attention for a romantic film like ‘Laila Majnu’, Avinash laughed and said, “Yes, the poor guy didn’t even have a muscle.”Tiwary is not complaining but he has a wish. “In this one, he is a pehelwan, so there is a shirtless scene in the akhara. But now I feel like joining one because of desirability. I want to have a scene where I go out, go into a pool, come out and have girls look at me.’
