Director Atlee has joined the growing list of celebrities praising his latest film ‘Karuppu’. Suriya and directed RJ Balaji. The filmmaker recently watched the film and shared his excitement on social media. Her positive reaction quickly gained attention among fans online. Atlee praises ‘Karuppu’
Taking to Instagram Stories, Atlee shared the film’s poster along with a lengthy note thanking the team. He wrote, “‘Karuppu’ movie was a blast. So entertaining to watch. A complete treat for family audiences. Don’t miss this in the theater, pure mass commercial blockbuster. Congratulations Brother RJ Balaji. Suriya… you killed sir. And congratulations to the whole team.” He also praised the technicians, including G. K. Vishnu, music director Sai Abhyankkar and editor R. Kalaivanan, calling their work “verithanam”. Fans shared Atlee’s statement on social media platforms.
‘Karuppu’ continues its strong run at the box office
The film is also doing strong at the box office. According to Sacnilk, ‘Karuppu’ collected 8.94 crores on Wednesday, taking its total India nett to 103.99 crores. The gross collection in India is currently 119.64 crores. After opening with 15.50 crores on the first day, the film saw a huge growth over the weekend and touched 28.35 crores on Sunday alone. Despite the weekday drop, the film comfortably crossed the 100 crore mark in its first week. The film has already performed better than some of Suriya’s recent releases like ‘Retro’ and ‘Kanguva’.
‘Karuppu’ overcomes its release issues and emerges as a big winner
Interestingly, ‘Karuppu’ almost missed out on its theatrical release due to last-minute financial issues between the producers and distributors. The film was originally scheduled to release on May 14, but the screenings were abruptly canceled hours before the first screenings. Later, RJ Balaji officially confirmed that the issues had been resolved, and the film was finally released the next day. Since then, the film has managed to build a great word of mouth among family audiences and fans. Meanwhile, Atlee is busy working on her next big project ‘Raaka’ starring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone.
