Assam HS Result 2026: Ending days of speculation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the Assam Higher Secondary (HS) or Class 12 results will be declared on April 28, 2026. The announcement comes after an earlier viral notice by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) termed the result date of April 24 as fake.In a post on social media, the Chief Minister said, “Higher Secondary Results will be declared on April 28. My best wishes to all the students appearing for the exam.” The confirmation has come as a relief to over three lakh students who were waiting for clarity on the result date amid rumors and conflicting reports.The fake notice was dismissed before official verification.A few days ago, a notice circulating online claimed that the HS results will be released on April 24. However, an ASSEB official told TOI Education on condition of anonymity that the notice was fabricated and no final decision has been taken on the declaration of results at the moment.The board’s clarification comes amid heightened anxiety among students and parents, especially as the undergraduate admissions schedule approaches. With the latest announcement by the Chief Minister, speculations on the result date have ended.

More than 3.3 lakh students are waiting for the results.The Assam HS exams 2026 were held across the state from February 13 to March 17, while the practical exams were held in late January and early February. This year, around 3.3 lakh candidates reportedly appeared for the exams in Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational streams.According to the available participation data, Arts continued to have the highest number of candidates, with around 2.4 lakh students, followed by Science with 55,000 and Commerce with around 17,000 candidates. The results will be released simultaneously for all streams.Trends in previous results pointed to a late April release.The April 28 announcement is broadly consistent with the pattern of recent Assam results. The HS results in 2025 were declared on 30th April while in 2024 they were declared in early May. The board has in recent years moved towards publishing preliminary results to align with national higher education admission timelines.Last year, the overall pass percentage stood at over 88 per cent, with science recording the highest pass rate among major streams. Similar performance trends will be closely watched this year as students compete for entry to universities and vocational courses.Students are advised to use the official portal.Students will be able to check their scores through official result portals once activated by ASSEB on April 28. The board has advised candidates to avoid relying on unofficial websites or social media rumours, and instead track only confirmed updates.With the result date now officially confirmed, the focus has shifted from speculation to performance, as lakhs of students in Assam prepare for one of the most anticipated academic announcements of the year.
