The veena in the shadows of Raag Khamaj gave it an ancient tenderness, and Arijit brought a kind of emotional surrender which is very difficult to describe without belittling it. After singing it, he told me that the song had really moved him for the rest of my life.” Some moments of the music do not want to become anecdotes. They become part of your inner life.’

He also added: “What he brought can’t be measured just by whether he changed a line from the scratch. His greatest contribution was the truth he brought to the song. That the composition didn’t need interpretation in the exhibitionist sense. It needed surrender. His voice made the emotion feel alive, not sung from the outside. For me, the song became divine because he didn’t try to dominate the composition. And all the scenes bowed to the same feeling.“
