Malayalam action thriller ‘Kattalan’ starring Antony Varghese in the lead role, will be released today.The film, directed by debutant Paul George, has already created a lot of buzz among the audience due to its tie-ups with the world established in ‘Marco’, as the trailer teased some shots and Antony Varghese’s film also stars Unni Mukundan.
Unni Mukundan denies participating in the universe
‘Marco’ actor Unni Mukundan opened up about his association with the project.The official statement read, “We would like to kindly clarify that Unni Mukundan is not a part of this project or any universe. We humbly request our fans and the public to refrain from any association with the project.”
Ivory smuggling is at the heart of the story of ‘Kattalan’
‘Kattalan’ is set in the violent world of ivory smuggling and illegal forest operations. The film follows a man caught in a brutal conflict involving greed, survival and dangerous criminal networks operating deep in the desert.Paul George developed the screenplay with Joby Varghese and Jero Jacob. The ‘Marco’ connection
One of the most notable things about Kattalan is his connection with Marco. Although the makers have not officially labeled it as a direct sequel, the film is expected to continue some of the unresolved emotional and narrative threads introduced earlier.According to details shared by the team, an important subplot of ‘Marco’ plays a major role in shaping Kattalan’s larger story. Leading up to Marco’s climax, the audience is introduced to a child later identified as Marco’s nephew. In the last moments of the film, the child is kidnapped. ‘Kattalan’ seems to analyze the consequences of that event.
Dushara Vijayan makes his Malayalam debut
Apart from Antony Varghese Pepe, the film also stars Dushara Vijayan, who has made his debut in Malayalam cinema with the project.The film’s music and background score have been composed by Ravi Basrur and B. Ajaneesh Loknath, both known for providing powerful soundtracks for action-packed films. The cast includes Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique and Anson Paul in important roles.
