As many artists continue to boycott Freedom 250’s ‘Great American State Fair’, citing their political affiliation with President Donald J. Trump, Vanilla ice he has decided to continue his performance for the pride of the nation. Defending his choice, the famous ‘Ice Ice Baby’ rapper said he would perform for Russian President Vladimir Putin, former President Joe Biden or even Iran. The 58-year-old believes that music is not political. Here’s a closer look at Vanilla Ice’s decision to play the Freedom 250’s Great America State Fair. Vanilla Ice said he will not be drawn into the political debate surrounding the incident. “I don’t even vote, so I don’t care,” she said in an interview with TMZ, adding that she would even if asked by former Democratic President Joe Biden. “And I’ll go play for Putin, and if you want I’ll play for Iran. It doesn’t matter,” he declared. Vanilla Ice is now the second person out of nine performers to officially accept the invitation to perform on June 26, 2026 in Washington, DC. “I’m here to party with America, man. Music is meant to bring people together, and that’s what we’re here for. And we’re going to represent the nineties,” he said, echoing the event’s values. When asked what he would like to say to the performers who are leaving, Vanilla Ice advised them not to take the affiliation seriously. “We’re just entertainers, man,” he continued, adding, “It’s just music, what’s the big deal, man?”

Launched by the Trump administration, Freedom 250 has hosted a series of events across the country designed to unite Americans ahead of the nation’s sesquicentennial. Six artists, including Young MC, Morris Day, The Commodores, Rob Pilatus Milli Vanilli, Poison frontman Bret Michaels and country singer Martina McBride, have withdrawn their names and will not be performing at the Freedom 250 event. Meanwhile, Milli Vanilli’s Fab Morvan will perform, and C&C Music Factory’s Freedom Williams is set to perform.
