New Delhi: Several players, team officials, franchise owners and other participants have been charged for allegedly violating various provisions of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code during the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Thursday.In a statement, the BCB said the allegations came after an investigation by the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU). The investigation examined alleged corrupt practices, betting activities, lack of cooperation in anti-corruption investigations and attempts to obstruct investigations related to BPL.“These charges stem from an investigation by the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU) into alleged corrupt practices, betting activities, failure to cooperate with anti-corruption investigations, and obstruction of investigations related to the Bangladesh Premier League T20 (BPL T20), 12th edition.” BCB said in a statement.“Investigations related to alleged activities related to betting, corrupt practices, including failure to comply with demand notices issued under Article 4.3 of the Code, concealment and deletion of relevant communications, and failure to cooperate with the Designated Anti-Corruption Officer (DACO).” He added.The BCB said team manager Mohammad Labal Rehman has been charged under Article 2.4.6 for allegedly failing or refusing to cooperate with the investigation and not complying with the demand notice issued under the Anti-Corruption Code. He is also charged with allegedly obstructing or delaying an investigation under Article 2.4.7, including concealing, deleting or destroying relevant information and communications.The co-owner of the franchise, Muhammad Tawhid-ul-Haq Tawhid, faces the same two charges under Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7.BCB also charged domestic cricketer Amit Mujamdar and team manager Rizwan Kabir Siddique under Article 2.2.1, which deals with making or entering bets in connection with cricket matches.The board said all participants who made the allegations have been temporarily suspended and have 14 days to respond to the allegations after receiving the notice. BCB added that it would not comment further on the matter at this stage.Separately, the BCB also issued an expulsion order against Samin-ur-Rehman under its Exclusion Policy following an investigation into alleged corrupt activities linked to various editions of the BPL, including the ninth, 10th and 11th seasons of the BPL.“Investigations have identified alleged involvement in activities related to betting, alleged corrupt approaches to players and agents, links with individuals linked to domestic and international betting and corruption networks, and alleged involvement in facilitating corrupt practices in relation to cricket matches,” the BCB said.“After service of the Notice of Purported Exclusion Order, Mr. Rehman waived his right to submit a response under the Excluded Person Policy and accepted the execution of the Exclusion Order,” it added.
