Nollywood actor Alexx Ebuko has died at the age of 40 after battling cancer

Alexx Ekubothe famous Nigerian actor known for his roles in romantic movies and humanitarian advocacy, died at the age of 40 on May 12, 2026. The award-winning artist breathed his last at a Lagos hospital after a discreet battle with cancer. Many prominent Nollywood members paid tributes and kind words to the actress.

Ekubo’s death was confirmed by colleagues Funke Akindele, Bolanle Ninalowo and Godwin Nnadiekwe on Tuesday, according to Punch. Akindele wrote the heartfelt words on her Instagram story, “hmmmmmm [three candle emojis] Rest in peace Alex. I tried to reach to see one more time, but I think you knew it well. May your kind soul rest in peace,” before adding about fond memories, “or as you fondly called me, I will always remember and cherish the good times we shared together. REST IN PEACE ALEX”. Meanwhile, Ninalowo also shared her sad emotions on social media: “Relax Alex. May God heal your family and all of us.” Also, Nnadiekwe said he was struggling to find words because Ebuko’s death had deeply broken him.
