In a recent post on social media, Matt Brown’s brother, Bear Brown, announced that his brother, who had been estranged from the family for a long time, has passed away. In the video, Bear appeared in tears as he confirmed that there was a strong possibility that his older brother and ‘Alaskan Bush People’ star would be killed.He began the video by saying, “I wanted to start off by saying that I can’t confirm it’s 100 percent true right now, but it’s what I’m hearing.” He also added, “I’m told Matt took his own life last night… Witnesses say they saw him in a river, in a river or near a river, and he took his own life, and they saw him floating down the river.”He said the news was based on eyewitnesses and that authorities had been searching for Brown. He also said that his brother suffered from alcohol and substance abuse for a long time, and that he had become estranged from the family.

In the video, she also recalled the last time she ran into her brother at the grocery store. He recalled the incident and said, “Before I left for Florida, I ran into him at Walmart, and we talked for a few minutes, and that was the last time I saw him, you know? And then he called me, and he told me he fell off the wagon, and I said, ‘Well, get back, man. You know, everybody falls. Go to rehab if you can. You got this. You’ve fought a lot before and everything.” And that was the last call I had with him, and that was a while ago.’In the meantime, he ended the video by asking for privacy and respect and stated that he wanted everyone to know what was happening. In a follow-up post, she called out some of the nasty comments being made about her family members and also referred to the body as ‘99%’ her brother, Matt.

The search was suspended until further notice for the missing man believed to be Matt Brown

In another social media post from the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office on May 30, search efforts were underway in the area. The statement added, “Deputies and agents from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife[s] used boats, personal watercraft, sonar and divers to search an expanding area near where the man was last seen. A dog from Spokane, trained to detect human tracks, was deployed and used tools to drag the riverbed.
