Remembering his birthday in 2026, Alda talked about getting help from others for the little things. “I was thinking about the day, the actual day I turned 90 this year,” the veteran celebrity told Per Person at the ‘Conversation: Rules for Aging’ event in New York on May 21, before adding: “We went to dinner and the server came at the end of the meal with a cupcake with a candle in it, and she sang ‘happy old man’ to the old man.‘” As she blew out the cupcake candles, the family said she could do it without anyone’s help, marking the important moment she let her age sink in. Speaking about how being old becomes a constant reminder, Alda realized that all of her daughters, Eve, 67, Elizabeth, 65, and Beatrice, 64, are on Medicare. However, he does not count his age among the years he spent on earth, but “how many times a day does someone say, ‘Can I help you?’
