As “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” continues its record-breaking run at the box office since its March 19 release, the director Aditya Dhar took a moment to celebrate the people behind it. His last tribute is to the choreographer Vijay GangulyThe creative force behind the song ‘Shararat’ from the first film Dhurandhar, whose viral hook steps have taken social media by storm.
Aditya Dhar has praised Vijay Ganguly for ‘Dhurandhar’
In a detailed note of appreciation shared publicly, Aditya Dhar highlighted Vijay Ganguly’s instinctive approach to choreography, which goes beyond matching rhythms and steps. He also drew a connection with Vijay’s lineage, pointing out that his storytelling instincts may have been inherited from his father. Anil GangulyThe director behind classics like ‘Kora Kagaz’, ‘Tapasya’, ‘Trishna’ and ‘Saaheb’.Dhar shared, “Choreographer, Vijay Ganguly. With Vijay, it always starts with instinct. He doesn’t just hear the music, he feels it and then turns that feeling into something you can see. What struck me most about Dhurandhar was how much he thinks as a director. It made my job easier than I expected. Maybe it’s years of experience or maybe it’s in his DNA, being the son of the great Anil Ganguly, but there’s a storyteller in him that goes beyond choreography.”
Aditya Dhar tells how ‘Shararat’ almost didn’t make it into the film
One of the most interesting revelations in Aditya Dhar’s note is that ‘Shararat’, now one of the franchise’s biggest viral moments, almost never happened. The director admitted that he wasn’t convinced about including a lip-sync dance track, but it was Vijay’s calm confidence that changed his mind.“I still remember our conversations about ‘Shararat.’ But Vijay smiled and said, “Let’s go sir, it will be fun.” That push (composer) gave Shashwat (Sachdev) and me the confidence we needed. And what came out of that is actually one of my favorite parts of the movie.”
