The trailer gives fans a look at Odysseus’ 10-year journey home after the Trojan War, while shedding light on the tensions between his son Telemachus, his wife Penelope, and the film’s antagonist, Antinous.However, social media was up in arms over the film’s use of modern dialogues in a mythological setting. One moment in particular – the use of the word “father” – sparked outrage online, and brought with it a wave of backlash over several other aspects of the film.

Indian fans reacted to the film’s trailer and compared it to Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’, which was meant to be a big-budget mythological epic that unfortunately failed to impress at the box office. “Calling him the Adipurush of Hollywood is WILD,” wrote one user.

Others commented on the film’s visuals and costumes, calling it a misrepresentation of the characters and events depicted in the text. “Odyssey meets Robocop and Ironman in a brilliant mix of Nolan’s troubled mind and Hollywood’s cultural beef. It’s a shame.. because The Iliad and Odyssey didn’t need a ‘refresh’. They were and still are some of the greatest stories mankind has ever produced,” read a message.The depiction of the Laestrygonians, the mythical cannibal giants of Homer’s story, also drew criticism. “These are supposed to be Laestrygonians according to Nolan. They were giant primitive ogres, believed to be descendants of Poseidon’s son Laestrygon. Cannibals, wild, covered in pieces of leather cloth. Why are they wearing medieval armor, almost futuristic??????????” asked another user.A separate post added: “Why do Laestrygonians have steel plate armor in the Bronze Age, Nolan? They must be savage giant cannibals.”Others compared the images to modern superhero movies rather than a traditional Greek epic. “I think if you told me this is from a Marvel movie I’d believe it,” one user commented.

Elliot Page to play Achilles ?
Rumors of Elliot Page being cast as the ghost of Achilles, previously played by Brad Pitt in “Trojan,” fueled online outrage, though no official confirmation has been made. One social media user wrote: “Elliot Page is rumored to be playing the ghost of Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s ‘THE ODYSSEY’… So Nolan’s house falls…..loading the first flop.”Another added: “Homer’s Achilles V Nolan’s Achilles. ‘Priam admired how great and beautiful Achilles was, the very image of a god’ Iliad.
