‘Awarapan 2’ has been creating a lot of buzz ever since Vishesh Films made the official announcement on 21st April 2026. Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patanibut Mohit Suriwho directed the 2007 original, will not be returning as director. In a new interview, Suri says that she was never offered, she also talks about her long creative bond with Emraan.
Mohit Suri on not directing ‘Awarapan 2’
In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Mohit Suri said that he was not approached to direct ‘Awarapan 2’. “They never offered me anything, that’s all. I think they wanted to work, but that’s not it,” he said.
Suri added that she will definitely work with Emraan. “I would work with Emraan at the drop of a hat. The problem is that I have done eight films with him. He knows me so well. I have to give him a role; I can’t bring myself to do any part of it. But I think it will be more favorable for me than for him.’‘Awarapan 2’ was expected to release on April 3, 2026, before being pushed to April 14, 2026. The film could have clashed with Sunny Deol’s ‘Lahore 1947’. Unlike the first film, he will direct the sequel Nitin Kakkar.

Suri also reacted to Emraan Hashmi’s viral scene in Aryan Khan’s ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’ where Raghav Juyal’s character says, “Akkha Bollywood ek taraf, aur Emraan Hashmi ek taraf.”“That scene was kicka**,” said Suri. “I think what Raghav was really doing is what I’ve achieved all my life.”He added, “Emraan is my elder brother. We actually grew up together watching the same films.” Suri said that Emraan was her “first hero” and her hero in eight films.Suri also spoke about Emraan turning down the role of Rahul Jaykar”Aashiqui 2‘. Emraan felt that the film needed new faces and joked that he was tired of killing the actor in his films.‘Awarapan’, released in 2007, had a weak box office initially but later became a cult favorite thanks to Pritam’s music and Emraan’s performance.
