In a recent interview Kapil Sharma, Aamir Khan He opened up about his son Junaid Khanhis career choices and the values that define his family. The actor has made it clear that he has consciously stopped influencing his son’s professional career.“Like his father, he didn’t let me do anything for him. He doesn’t like me even if I interfere in his career,” Aamir said, adding that Junaid trained in theater abroad and returned to India to audition independently, without revealing his identity. “I didn’t tell anyone he’s my son, not even him. He built his career.”Aamir also acknowledged the inherent pressure Junaid faces because of his lineage. “Since you are my son, it will be especially difficult for you. Everyone will directly compare you to me, so getting the right choice won’t be easy,” he shared, recalling his conversation with her.
Reena’s upbringing and a father’s pride
Talking about his children, Aamir credited ex-wife Reena Dutta for their upbringing. “I feel very proud as a father – and the credit goes to Reena’s upbringing. Of course, I also contributed – but our children are very sensitive and kind-hearted. They value others and think about people. Those are wonderful qualities.”He recounted an incident that left a deep impression during the COVID-19 pandemic. “When Reena’s parents got COVID and they were alone, before we could decide what to do, Junaid was already there. He stayed with them for two weeks, cooking, washing clothes and taking care of them, without anyone asking.”For Aamir, this reflected his son’s character. “He has a lot of love in him and a strong character. Seeing that makes me very proud.”
“He travels in cars… he wants to win”
Aamir also spoke about Junaid’s grounded lifestyle, revealing that the young actor often chooses public transport over convenience.“I’ve told him many times: buy a car. But he says: ‘When I need it, I’ll take it. First let me work, let me become something’.”Referring to the viral videos of Junaid traveling in cars, Aamir added, “He is that kind of person. He doesn’t feel the need for those things right now.”
Family lessons and finding balance
Reflecting on his journey, Aamir admitted that his intense focus on work came at the cost of family time. “During the time of COVID, I realized that emotionally I am very close to my family, but I didn’t spend enough time with them. I felt very guilty about that.”He even considered quitting films altogether. “I decided to stop acting, producing – everything – and spend my life with my family.”However, it was his children who restored the balance. “Junaid and Ira said to me, ‘How long are you going to do this? We have our lives too.’ They explained that life needs a balance: you can work and still be with your family.’Today, says Aamir, he is trying to live that balance.
