Namit Malhotra Confirms 'Brahmastra 2' After 'Ramayana' With Ranbir Kapoor Says He Plans To Carry On Astraverse

Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious fantasy film ‘Brahmāstra: Part One: Shiva’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhattand Amitabh BachchanReleased in 2022 with the promise of a larger trilogy. While fans are eagerly waiting for updates on the second part, a new development suggests that Brahmastra 2 is still very much on the way.While Ranbir Kapoor had earlier confirmed that the sequel is in the works, producer Namit Malhotra has now revealed that the film’s work will begin after the completion of his current project, Ramayana. Malhotra, along with co-star Yash, recently attended CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, where they have launched the global promotions of Ramayana. According to an update on The Climax India’s X (formerly Twitter), Malhotra confirmed at the event that he plans to continue the Astraverse with Brahmastra 2, although an official announcement is still awaited.The sequel is expected to explore the backstory and romance between Dev and Amrita, which was briefly teased at the climax of the first film. In October 2025, Ayan Mukerji shared pictures from a mountain getaway, and fans were quick to spot a script in his hand, fueling speculation that he had started work on Brahmastra 2. Although he didn’t confirm it directly, his use of hashtags related to Part 2 and “Om” kept the intrigue alive.Earlier this year, Ranbir Kapoor also dropped a strong hint about the film while speaking on Alia Bhatt’s birthday. He said, “It’s something that Ayan nurtures as a dream. He’s currently working on War 2. Once it releases, pre-production for Brahmastra 2 will begin. It’s definitely happening. We haven’t announced much, but then some interesting announcements (coming soon) around Brahmastra 2,” Ranbir said.Meanwhile, Malhotra and Yash are now focused on promoting Ramayana globally. Talking about the experience of working on the film, Malhotra described it as an “Avatar meets Gladiator moment”. Apart from Ramayana, Yash’s project Toxic has also grabbed attention at CinemaCon, adding to the buzz around the actor’s line-up.
