Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has officially opened bookings for its upcoming electric MPV, the MPV 7, ahead of its market launch. The new electric MPV can be reserved from today by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000, which is scheduled to be launched in Delhi on April 15. Here’s a quick look at VinFast’s plans for the near future.
VinFast MPV 7 Limo Green and more to follow
The MPV 7 will mark VinFast’s entry into India’s highly competitive family car space, with the model primarily aimed at private buyers. Along with this, the company will also introduce the Limo Green, a version based on the same platform but for fleet and commercial applications.
Apart from its passenger vehicle plans, VinFast is gearing up to launch its electric cab service, GSM, in India in the coming months. The company is also planning to expand into the two-wheeler space, with electric scooters expected later this year. Interestingly, these will be sold through a separate retail network, indicating a distinct strategy for the high-volume two-wheeler segment. The MPV 7 itself is a seven-seater electric model that has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. It is expected to compete with rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Powertrain details are yet to be revealed but we can expect a front-mounted electric motor producing 201 hp and 280 Nm of torque paired with a 60.13 kWh battery pack. The model claims to offer a driving range of around 450 km on the NEDC cycle.
