The compact SUV segment in India has heated up once again with the arrival of the updated Skoda Kushaq facelift and the return of the Renault Duster. If you’re looking to buy either of the two SUVs, here’s a quick look at the prices and engine options on offer.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift vs Renault Duster: Engine Specs Comparison
The Koshaq looks continue with the same set of turbo-petrol engines seen earlier. This can be had with a 1.0-litre TSI unit producing 115 hp, 178 Nm and a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine delivering 150 hp and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, an 8-speed torque converter automatic with the smaller engine, and a 7-speed DCT paired with the 1.5-liter unit.The Duster, on the other hand, returns to the brand’s CMF-B platform and is offered with multiple powertrain choices. The entry-level version uses a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Over the range, buyers can opt for the Turbo TCe 160 engine, which delivers 163 hp and 280 Nm, and is available with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
In addition, Renault is also offering a strong hybrid version called the E-Tech 160. This setup combines a gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. According to the company, the system is capable of operating in pure electric mode for up to 80 percent of city driving conditions.

When it comes to pricing, the entry-level Duster has a slight edge. It starts at Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom, making it marginally more affordable than the Kaushik. Both SUVs are available in multiple variants, catering to a wide range of budgets. The Kashqa lineup goes up to Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-showroom, starting at Rs 10.69 lakh, ex-showroom.On the other hand, the Duster’s range extends to Rs 18.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
