Triumph Motorcycles is gearing up to expand its presence in the highly competitive mid-capacity segment in India. The company is all set to launch its 350cc range on April 6. The move comes at a time when tax regulations are playing a key role in pricing strategies.

Why is Triumph launching a 350cc model despite the existing 400cc lineup?

After the rollout of GST 2.0 in September 2025, motorcycles above 350cc will attract a tax rate of around 40 percent. By bringing down the engine capacity below this limit, the new Triumph range will fall into the lower end of the 18 per cent tax bracket. This will help the company price its bikes more competitively and compete with rivals like Royal Enfield, which has a strong foothold in the 350cc space.

Triumph 350cc Model: What to Expect

The upcoming motorcycles will not have a brand new engine. Instead, Triumph is expected to use a redeveloped version of its existing 398 cc platform. Reducing the bore will reduce engine capacity to around 349cc. This adjustment should maintain the basic characteristics of the motor while slightly reducing the peak output. Although the official figures are not out yet, the new engine is expected to produce around 35 hp and 32 Nm of torque. For reference, the current 399cc unit produces around 40 hp and 37.5 Nm in most models. The new 350cc lineup is expected to include familiar nameplates like Speed, Scrabbler and Thruxton. In terms of design and hardware, these motorcycles will remain largely similar to their 400 cc counterparts.
