An important feature of the proposed policy is the incentive scheme linked to scrappage. Vehicle owners who scrap BS4 or old vehicles registered in Delhi at authorized centers will be eligible for financial benefits. However, to claim the incentive, buyers must purchase a new electric vehicle within six months of receiving the scrappage certificate.Incentives will vary depending on the type of EV purchased. Buyers opting for an electric two-wheeler will get Rs 10,000, while those opting for an electric three-wheeler will get Rs 25,000. The biggest benefit is reserved for buyers. Those who buy an electric car worth up to Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom, will be eligible for an incentive of Rs 1 lakh. However, this benefit will initially be limited to one lakh applicants.

All incentives are expected to be transferred directly to the beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The process of claiming these benefits will be notified separately by the Transport Department. In addition to direct incentives, the government plans to continue offering major tax relief on EVs. Electric vehicles up to Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom, are likely to get 100 percent rebate on road tax and registration fees till March 31, 2030. However, vehicles priced above Rs 30 lakh will not be eligible for these discounts.
