Japanese automaker Lexus revealed the next-generation Lexus ES globally in April 2025. And now, the luxury sedan will make its debut in India tomorrow. In its eighth generation, the new Lexus ES features an all-new design, a new interior, additional features, added safety and more. The new ES will be bought in India via the CKD route and prices are expected to start at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series LWB and Audi A6 in the Indian market. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, let’s take a look at everything we know so far.

Power trainTalking about the first powertrain, globally, the Lexus ES is offered with hybrid and all-electric powertrains, with the hybrid range expected to continue in India, while the EV launch is uncertain. The ES 300h is available with 197hp 2.0-litre and 201hp 2.5-litre petrol hybrid options, while the ES 350h uses a 2.5-litre unit producing 247hp. All hybrid versions come with an e-CVT and are available with front or all-wheel drive setups. The electric lineup includes the ES 350e and 550e. The 350e uses a 77kWh battery with a 224hp front-mounted motor, while the 550e gets a 74.7kWh battery and dual motors producing 343hp. Claimed range figures are 685km for the 350e and 610km for the 550e.

DesignThe new Lexus ES features a redesigned front with L-shaped DRLs and indicators arranged in a Z-like pattern, while the central headlamps are housed within gloss black elements. The spindle grille has been replaced by a smooth central section with pattern detailing in the lower air vents. The bonnet gets sharp lines extending to the fenders, and vertical air channels on the bumper edges help airflow while adding width. In profile, the ES takes on a more streamlined look with a defined shoulder line, an aerodynamic crease with gloss black accents, flush door handles and new alloy wheels. A sloping roof with a Kamm-tail design improves airflow. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar with bright ‘Lex’ lettering is the key element, along with a sharp boot edge and L-shaped reflectors. The sedan has also grown in size, measuring 5,140mm in length, 1,920mm in width and 1,555-1,560mm in height, making it 165mm longer, 55mm wider and 115mm taller. The wheelbase has increased by 80mm to 2,950mm.

Interior and featuresThe new Lexus ES adopts a cleaner cabin layout with a greater focus on digital controls, reducing the use of physical buttons. Most functions are accessed via a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, while the center console houses touch capacitive controls. The dashboard uses a layered, horizontal design with soft-touch materials, metallic accents and ambient lighting. It follows a driver-centric layout with minimal clutter.A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, with a three-spoke steering wheel that maintains physical controls. A head-up display is also offered. The center console has a more open design with integrated storage and cup holders, while trim options include wood, metal and piano black finishes. The ES comes with power-operated front seats with memory, heating and ventilation, while rear passengers benefit from extra space and reclining seats, with optional ottoman and massage functions. Features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a Mark Levinson sound system and an electrochromic glass roof. Other equipment includes an electronic parking brake, wireless charging, USB ports, multi-zone climate control and an ADAS suite.
