India-made mini Countryman C to launch tomorrow: All you need to know

Mini India is all set to launch the Made in India Mini Countryman C in the Indian market tomorrow i.e. June 17, 2026. Booking is already open. Interested customers can book the car exclusively through the mini-dealership, and deliveries are expected to begin immediately. The new Mini Countryman C, which will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group plant in Chennai, is expected to be priced between Rs 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom). The new SUV will compete with BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and other similarly priced SUVs.In terms of design, the Mini Countryman C follows the design cues of the JCW and electric versions in terms of overall design elements such as the headlamp design, tail lamps and wheel design. At the front, it gets circular headlamps paired with a more square grille, along with a straighter nose and a revised bumper, giving it a stronger look than the earlier models. In profile, the design shifts to a more boxy silhouette, with a flat roofline, upright stance and squared-off wheel arches. The longer wheelbase contributes to better proportions and interior space. The rear remains simple, with LED taillamps featuring a modern light signature, clean tailgate design and minimal detailing.Moving on to the inside, it features a revised cabin layout with a focus on a cleaner and more contemporary design while retaining elements of the Kleiner brand. The interior adopts a minimalist style, with an emphasis on minimal clutter and utility. A central circular OLED touchscreen dominates the dashboard, replacing the traditional instrument cluster and infotainment setup. Below the screen, MINI continues to offer toggle-style physical switches, which provide tactile control. It also gets textile-based surfaces and recycled elements, including a woven fabric dashboard spread throughout the cabin. The new Mini Countryman C is expected to get a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged engine with 136hp and 230Nm. It is mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and sends power to the front wheels. The same engine also powers the BMW X1. The MINI Countryman is built on the front-wheel drive UKL2 platform, which it shares with the BMW X1, which is also assembled in India.
