Norton Motorcycles has taken the wraps off the new Atlas GT, revealing full specifications of the middleweight adventure touring motorcycle that will make its way to India in the future. The British brand, which is backed by TVS Motor Company, has unveiled the road-focused Atlas GT as well as the Atlas for the UK and European markets.Powering the Atlas GT is a 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft. The motor produces 69 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 57.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and is equipped with a slipper clutch and a two-way quick shifter as standard.The motorcycle is built around a high-strength steel trellis frame with the engine acting as a stress member. Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable KYB components at both ends. The Atlas GT features a 43mm USD front fork with 140mm of wheel travel, while the rear gets a fully adjustable monoshock with hydraulic preload adjustment and 140mm of travel. Braking is taken care of by dual 310 mm semi-floating front discs and 270 mm rear discs with radial calipers.The Atlas GT rides on 17-inch cast alloy wheels at both ends. It also gets a lower 815mm seat height than the standard Atlas.One of the highlights of the Atlas GT is its extensive electronics package. The motorcycle has a Bosch six-axis IMU that enables lean-sensitive ABS, cornering traction control and cornering cruise control. It also comes with wheelie control, rear slide control and five riding modes: Urban, Rain, Sport, Tour and Enduro.The tech package includes an 8-inch TFT touchscreen display with integrated navigation, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, smartphone integration and support for the Norton Rider app. Riders can also access ride telemetry, over-the-air software updates and call and music control through the system.While Norton is yet to announce an official India launch timeline, the Atlas GT is expected to be among the key products for the Indian market, where interest in middleweight adventure motorcycles is on the rise.
