Punjabi actor-singer Amy Virk appeared in favor of Ranveer Singh Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the actor’s exit from Don 3 . Ranveer and Excel Entertainment, Ammy questioned the timing of the producers’ actions and suggested that the actor should not have been asked to pay the reported compensation of Rs 45 crore. The controversy surfaced a month after Ranveer scored a huge hit at the box office with the Dhurandhar franchise. However, the celebrations were reportedly overshadowed when Excel Entertainment demanded Rs 45 crore in damages, alleging that the actor walked out of Don 3 weeks before the film was scheduled to go on floors. The issue remains unresolved.
Ammy Virk questions the timing of the producers
In an interview with Connect Cine, Ammy Virk weighed in on the controversy and expressed confidence in Ranveer’s integrity. The two actors previously worked together in 83.While admitting she didn’t know all the details of the fallout, Ammy said she found it hard to believe Ranveer could be at fault.“I feel that when it had some flops, you (Excel) could have launched Don 3. Then it was ignored. Now that Dhurandhar is a hit, they are asking for the money back,” he said. The actor further argued that Ranveer should not expect to pay such a huge amount.“They can do what they want. Everything they owe 2-4 million, take it and move on. Who will give 45 million?” Amy stated.
“It’s not Ranveer’s fault”
Continuing her support for the actor, Ammy said the legal action would not necessarily lead to a resolution.“This is not Ranveer’s fault. They can file a case if they want. These types of cases don’t go anywhere. They go on for 20 years,” he laughed.
FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive
The dispute escalated last month when the Cine Workers Federation of West India issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer. The federation complained that the actor did not respond to repeated requests to appear before the body and discuss the matter, despite having been sent three warnings. The directive came more than a month later Farhan Akhtar Ranveer approached FWICE with a complaint about his exit from Don 3. The producers alleged that the withdrawal of the actor from the project resulted in pre-production losses of 45 million euros.
Industrial organizations have been involved in mediation work
Soon after the directive was issued, Ranveer responded through an official statement released by his spokesperson, stating that he had chosen to remain silent while the discussions took place. In a significant development, the FWICE later withdrew the non-cooperation directive following mediation efforts by the Producers Guild of India, CINTAA and other industry bodies.Reports also suggested that Ranveer responded through legal channels, after which discussions began to settle the matter amicably. The controversy comes at a time when Ranveer is enjoying one of the most successful phases of his career, with the Dhurandhar franchise emerging as a major box office hit.
