Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Sanjay made a passionate case for a Mithun biopic. He wrote, “Like MICHAEL, we have a star who needs to tell his story. Struggle. Sacrifice. Superstardom. A kid from Calcutta who had nothing but hunger and rhythm. Mithun Chakraborty. Mithun Da – your biopic is long overdue.”

Mithun Chakraborty was born in Kolkata and trained at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune before making his mark in Bollywood. His big break came Mrinal Sen‘Mrigayaa’ (1976), won him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Although his early days in mainstream cinema were not easy, he eventually rose to become one of the biggest stars of Indian films in the 1980s and 1990s. His popularity rose to new heights with the 1982 blockbuster “Disco Dancer”, which was a huge hit not only in India but also in the Soviet Union.
