New Delhi: When will Vaibhav Suryavanshi debut in India? When will the 15-year-old Don Senior wear the India jersey? Can he find a place in the squad for the upcoming T20Is against Ireland? These questions have dominated the debate ever since the teenage batting sensation took the cricketing world by storm. Suryavanshi was instrumental in India’s U-19 World Cup triumph, scoring a record-breaking 175 off just 80 balls as India won a record sixth title. He carried this impressive form into IPL 2026, scoring 776 runs in 16 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 237.31. The youngster also hit a tournament record 72 sixes. The 15-year-old won widespread praise for his fearless batting against world-renowned bowlers including Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada and Pat Cummins. His remarkable feats have fueled growing calls for his inclusion in the senior national team, with many believing that he should be swiftly included in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Ireland. India are scheduled to play two T20Is against Ireland on June 26 and June 28 in Belfast.BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia praised Suryavanshi’s extraordinary rise and expressed confidence that his performance will not go unnoticed by the selectors.“Vaibhu is the new wonder kid in Indian cricket, and I am sure he will take the world by storm in the days to come. And all our selectors are part of the IPL tournament. Everyone, all the selectors are watching these matches very closely, and in most cases, they are spot on,” Saikia told Hindustan Times.“So, in the upcoming selection meetings for the Indian team’s UK tour, I am sure the selectors will do whatever is necessary and in his best interest, the way he has performed,” he said.“Many other players have done very well. But Vaibhav is exceptional, and I am very happy that God is kind, that a new wonder kid has been introduced to the Indian cricket scene at this stage, and that he will definitely cross borders very soon,” Saikia added. After the Ireland series, India will travel to England for a white-ball tour that will consist of five T20Is and three ODIs.
