After his latest film ‘Chamkila’ received a lot of love and critical acclaim, Imtiaz Ali he is back with another film, ‘Main Vaapas Aunga’. He has teamed up with Diljit again for this one. The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharva. As Imtiaz spoke about the film and his casting process, he explained why he couldn’t think of any other actor for the role played by Naseeruddin and Diljit. He also talked about how the thought of what people felt during the partition became the core of this film. He told ETimes: “It came from a lot of stories I heard, especially in Punjab, about people who had hope and love in their hearts during Partition. I heard a lot of beautiful stories based on Partition and because they were contemporary because people were alive and still influencing their films. A big part of our lives is about migration. Almost everyone has migrated from somewhere, especially India. I thought, this is an important story that has come my way.” Talking about the actors in this film, he said, “All the four actors are very different from each other. Instinctively, I find a way to work with each actor differently and how to direct them. I have worked with Diljit before and not with any of them. I had seen one of Vedang’s films earlier and not any of Sharvari’s films. But the films I have seen, though I have worked with anyone. earlier, that was not in my mind when I was casting or directing him. All four are very suitable in their own way. ” He added, “To that extent, the role that Naseeruddin Shah is playing is a well-calibrated role. His character has different levels of dementia, sometimes he remembers, sometimes he forgets and for an actor to go through that process realistically, you needed experience and confidence in him to forget and not embarrass you.” All this happened. It would be impossible for a new actor or an actor as inexperienced as Naseer to do that. We are lucky that Naseer has a lot of experience and I have no chance for him in this part. I didn’t have a chance for Diljit because he has a very social background and comes with a very strong intention on his part. Sharvari and Vedang in different ways. There was a certain character that I hoped she would be and that really came through in this film. Sharvari has a certain vitality.” ‘Main Vaapas Aunga’ is releasing on June 12.
