The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced that the application process for the 72nd Common Preliminary Competitive Examination (CCE) 2026 will close today on 31 May 2026. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied are advised to complete the registration process through the official website of BPSC before the last date.Bihar Government has released a recruitment drive to fill up 1,186 vacancies in various departments. The notification was originally issued on 5th May 2026 and applications started on 7th May 2026.The total number of vacancies increased from 1,230 to 1,186 after withdrawal of 44 sugarcane officer posts, which were transferred under separate rules.Posts under BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 are included.Some of the major vacancies announced include:

- SDM/SDO (100 Posts)

- Block Panchayat Raj Officer (70 Posts)
- Municipal Executive Officer (54 Posts)
- Labor Enforcement Officer (56 Posts)
- Child Development Project Officer (20 Posts)
Other vacancies are also included in administrative, education, finance, audit, cooperative and welfare departments.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 must have completed Bachelor Degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.Some posts have additional educational requirements. For example, candidates applying for the post of Financial Administrative Officer should have an academic background in commerce, mathematics, statistics or economics.Age limit for general male candidates is 20 to 37 years as on 1st August 2026. Concessions are available to women, backward classes, and SC/ST candidates as per rules.
Application fee
Candidates have to pay the application fee online.The application fee for all categories is ₹100. Candidates without Aadhaar will have to pay an additional ₹ 200 biometric charge.
Selection process
The selection process will involve three stages:
- Preliminary examination
- Main Exam
- The interview
The preliminary examination will consist of 150 objective type questions and will be conducted for 2 hours. There will be negative marking of one third mark for each wrong answer.Shortlisted candidates for the main examination will be selected in the ratio of 10 times the total number of vacancies.The main exam will include papers like General Hindi, General Studies, Essay, and an optional subject section.
