Paresh Rawal once spoke candidly about feeling tired of being so closely associated with Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, his much-loved character from the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise. The actor said he wanted to distance himself from the image created by the paper, although the public continued to celebrate it through memes, clips and reels. His comments showed the other side of playing a comic character that he became bigger than in almost every part of his film career.

In an earlier interview with ETimes, Paresh Rawal spoke about Baburao’s enduring popularity and said he grew tired of the constant attention the character attracted. The actor played Baburao in “Hera Pheri” and “Hera Pheri 2”, later titled “Phir Hera Pheri”. Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.Talking about the popularity of the character, Rawal said, “But I am tired of it. Sick and tired.” His remark came as fans continued to revisit Baburao through online jokes, memes and short videos.Rawal also explained why he thought the sequel didn’t do as well as the original film. Rawal also talked about what the franchise needed, if another film were to go ahead. Really,” he said referring to Pheri’s idea.It remains one of Baburao Rawal’s most popular roles. The character’s thick glasses, comedic timing and confused innocence were central to the franchise’s appeal. Rawal’s comments, however, showed that even his fame was limiting him as an actor.
