‘Don 3’, hit by repeated delays, the actor does not blame the filmmaker
Ranveer was officially unveiled as the face of ‘Don 3’ in 2023 through an eye-catching teaser, creating a lot of excitement among fans. However, the project has been plagued by repeated delays, and much remains unclear as to the reasons behind the holdups. As reported, the production has said that the fault of these setbacks is not that of the filmmaker or the producer Farhan. Ritesh Sidhwani.
How Ranveer Singh’s other commitments led to pushing “Don 3” again and again
According to reports, Ranveer was promoted for the film and Farhan wanted to start immediately after ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ (2023). However, Ranveer had given dates for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Baiju Bawra’ and had already started prepping for that film. After that, Prasanth Varma’s project gained momentum and ‘Don 3’ was again pushed by the actor. Later, Ranveer Singh informed the production house about the plans to prioritize Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’. After a series of unsuccessful films, he believed that this project had the potential to raise his standing with the audience and that Don’s entry into the board would better position the franchise. With Dhurandhar gaining momentum, Ranveer walked out of Don 3 on December 20, 2025, three weeks before the film went on floors.
Ranveer Singh will now focus on his project ‘Pralay’
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is gearing up to focus on his next project ‘Pralay’, the shooting of which is expected to begin soon.
Excel Entertainment is asking for 40-45 million euros in damages
Reportedly, Excel Entertainment had sought damages of Rs 40-45 crore from Ranveer for alleged losses during the pre-production, which led to him being moved first to the Producers Guild of India and then to the FWICE. FWICE General Counsel Ashoke Pandit said Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had approached the body, noting that significant investments had already been made in the project, including overseas travel, hotel bookings and logistical arrangements for a crew of over 200 people. Pandit alleged that Ranveer had signed a three-film deal with Excel Entertainment and was actively involved in script discussions as well as announcement shoots. The controversy soon sparked a debate among industry bodies, with CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon weighing in and arguing that “ban is a strong word for a working actor” and that the actors’ association should be consulted before any call for non-cooperation is made.
