Pune: Isha Singh She produced a dream final at the ISSF Munich World Cup on Wednesday as she won gold in the women’s 25m pistol event with a world record. Hyderabad’s Isha scored 43 runs in the final, one more than the previous senior world record and two more than the junior world record. 21-year-old Esha broke Korean shooter Kim Yi Ji’s record of 42 shots, which was set in 2024. The junior record was also held by Paris Olympics gold medalist Yang Ji-in (41) of Korea from 2024.Isha’s dominance in Wednesday’s final can be gauged by the 5-point difference between gold and silver. Second place went to veteran German shooter Dorian Weinekamp (38).Esha, who won a bronze medal at the World Championships last year, said she wanted to win a medal in Munich, but did not think of winning in this fashion. “Munich World Cup is a very prestigious event, and the scores here are high, so qualifying for the final is also a big achievement. I wanted to win a medal here badly. I didn’t think of setting a new world record, but I am happy that I meant a lot with a gold in this range,” Isha told TOI.The youngster said the win would help him gain confidence ahead of a busy season. “We have Asian Games, World Championships later this year,” he said. I will remember this performance to gain confidence but also work on my future matches.Isha’s coach Ronk Pandit said the change in grip did her good.
