Speaking after the match, the young opener revealed that he prefers not to overthink situations and instead just focuses on playing the game in front of him. “(Do you celebrate or is it like ‘what’s done, now think about it’?) When we win, we just carry forward the positive intention and move on to the next match. And we try to win the next match in the same way and reach the final.” Even after scoring one of the biggest innings ever in an IPL playoff match, Suryavanshi admitted that he keeps his mindset simple before games. “(What’s your mindset going into the next game?) I think a little bit, but not too much. I just try to play the game I’m in and not think too much. But if I feel like I need to work on something, I look at it.” The RR opener also opened up about the amount of preparation that goes into his fearless batting style. Despite being just 15, Suryavanshi explained that he carefully studies the opposition bowlers, pitch and boundary dimensions before going out to bat. “(Tell me about your preparation before a match.) I just think about who the bowlers are in the opposition team, how I can face them on that wicket, how big the boundaries are, just that kind of stuff. I just try to stay positive with my intentions. When I do that, the bowlers are under pressure. So I try to keep it going and dominate the game.” This positive intent completely overwhelmed the SRH bowling attack in Milanpur. On a real batting surface, Suryavanshi toyed with his likes. At that time I was just focused on contributing as much as I could because hundreds will keep coming, but now the focus is on how to win the trophy.” The youngster also explained that he prefers to focus on his projects instead of worrying about what the opposition is trying to do against him. “If I think I’m having trouble somewhere, I work on it. I don’t think about what the opposition is planning, it’s their plan. I focus on what my plan is, and I just try to play normal cricket. Even without a century, Suryavanshi’s innings rewrote IPL history. He broke Gayle’s 14-year-old record for most sixes in a single IPL season and now holds the record for most sixes in IPL 2026 with 65 sixes.
