Now, film editor Shweta Venkat, known for her work on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012), ‘Newton’ (2017), ‘Haseen Dillruba’ (2021) and ‘Kalank’, has voiced her criticism, accusing FWICE of selective outrage in the matter.
Shweta Venkat exposes FWICE’s double standards
In an interview with SCREEN, Shweta pointed to a glaring inconsistency, the failure of FWICE to act on a collective complaint filed by 242 editors in 2023, which highlighted concerns related to pay squares, pending dues and working conditions. However, Excel Entertainment’s Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani Approached by the federation over the Don 3 case, it quickly moved to impose a ban on Ranveer. Shweta revealed that the editors had sought a dialogue with the producer body, but the matter had gone nowhere since then. “We needed a conversation with the producers. A letter was also sent to them, signed by 242 editors working in the industry, detailing the issues. But there was no communication or backtracking after that meeting,” he said.

He also took his frustration to social media, and he couldn’t hold back. Describing Ranveer’s ban as “nice”, FWICE questioned the federation’s selective effectiveness, writing: “When film editors came to help create a dialogue with producers, where was that effectiveness? It’s been 3 years. Or maybe we weren’t relaxed enough. Basically, ya actor bano producer (become producer or actor).“
FWICE bans Ranveer Singh for ‘Don 3’ exit
After a long debate over Singh’s sudden exit from ‘Don 3’, producer Farhan took the matter to FWICE. On Monday, the federation moved swiftly, banning the actor and banning all of his members and staff from working with him in the future. Responding to the FWICE directive, Ranveer’s official spokesperson released a statement. “Ranveer Singh has the utmost respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise. During the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to remain silent, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect. While various narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never felt the need to publicly respond or contribute to conjecture. He remains steadfast in his work and future commitments,” the statement said.
Ranveer’s spokesperson issues a second statement
Later, Ranveer’s spokesperson released another statement on the matter. “Ranveer Singh has the utmost respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise.
