The series has built a reputation for delivering emotionally devastating shows that leave viewers reeling. Now, the show’s penultimate episode delivers yet another unexpected twist, with the death of a major character and multiple storylines reaching critical points.Once again, Rue Bennett ends an episode of ‘Euphoria’ in danger, but one of her high school classmates is even worse off. Zendaya’s character has had a rough season, most recently avoiding having her head chopped off with a polo mallet. Now, however, he risks being discovered trying to rob a drug cartel after Faye (Chloe Cherry), who was trying to help Rue after Wayne (Toby Wallace) reveals he wants Rue dead, turns on him and screams to wake everyone up.
Nate Jacobs’ tragic end in “Euphoria” episode 7
It’s Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) who ends the episode really dead, seemingly indisputably, as we watch his wife Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) cry over his body. Nate Jacobs has changed a lot since high school. In the show’s first two seasons, the character who creates much of the show’s intrigue and menace has been dwarfed by his barely-controllable rage. His business failures and his debt to loan sharks give him a dejected and sad resignation.Nate is kidnapped by loan sharks for a million dollar debt, buried in a shallow grave with little exit to the outside world, and Cassie is given three days to come up with the money to buy his freedom. When Cassie leaves, Maddy (Alexa Demie) questions Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), who appears at the crash site and shoots one of the borrowers, ending the conflict. However, a rattlesnake slithers out and bites Nate before Cassie can reunite with him, rendering the entire effort futile.

It might come as a surprise that Maddy is helping Cassie, whose desperate decision to quit OnlyFans in the previous episode cuts off her manager’s vital income stream to pursue a legitimate acting career. Cassie is fired from “LA Nights” after the production decides it doesn’t want to bother explaining its star’s past work.Cassie hatches a clever scheme with Dylan Reed (Homer Gere), an actor who shared scenes with her before she was shot. On a date with Dylan, he gets her drunk, has sex with her, and while in a postcoital haze, steals her phone from her Instagram to post that Cassie is remarkable in bed. Meanwhile, a morbid reminder of suffering occurs elsewhere: Nate’s frozen finger is in Dylan’s frozen water, unnoticed.
Ali’s journey to redemption in “Euphoria.”
In a signature flashback narrated by ‘Euphoria’ Rue, we see Ali (Colman Domingo) on his journey to find sobriety. After an explosive fight with his wife, Ali ends up in a flophouse with a character played by Natasha Lyonne. Later, as he steps up, we see him trying to protect other addicts, especially in the dark days of COVID when in-person meetings disappear.Ali is now trying to do the same, once again, for Rue, although it looks like she has an increasingly difficult fight ahead of her.
Rue’s spiritual awakening threatens her survival
Rue, after seeing a burning bush as a sign, tells Ali that he has heard the voice of God: “I have heard your cries, I feel your pain; have faith and I will lead you out of Egypt and into the Promised Land.” In his connection with faith, Rue seems to have a new sense that anything is possible.This newfound trust may be the reason Rue plays an increasingly complex game between the two rival cartels, now working to convince Laurie (Martha Kelly) that he distrusts Alamo because he knows his true loyalty lies with Laurie. To reward Rue’s willingness to switch sides, the cartel threatens violence before slashing his palm open with a knife. Rue attempts a robbery, with Faye’s help, in the middle of the night, but the state of the safe, which only contains IDs, no money, convinces Faye that Rue has been lying all along. Her screams alert everyone, putting Rue in immediate danger as the season draws to a close.
