'Karuppu' box office collections Day 9: Suriya film jumps 56 percent; Worldwide in 217 million

Suriya and Trisha Krishnan’s fantasy entertainer ‘Karuppu’ got a big push at the box office on its second Saturday. After a comparatively lower collection on Friday, the film bounced back with impressive growth and continued its successful theatrical run.According to Sacnilk, ‘Karuppu’ collected 12.20 crores nett on day 9 in India. This figure represents a growth of 56.4 percent from the 7.80 crore net earned on Day 8.The film was aired in 4,987 sessions on Saturday and maintained a healthy occupancy level throughout the day.

The worldwide collection of ‘Karuppu’ reaches 217.74 crores

‘Karuppu’ has taken its net collection in India to 133.85 crores. The gross collection in India now stands at 154.99 crores after nine days in theatres.The film continued to do well in overseas markets. Karuppu earned 3.50 crores overseas on Day 9 which pushes its international total to 62.75 crores.The worldwide gross collection has now reached 217.74 crores.

The Tamil version of ‘Karuppu’ is leading the charge

The Tamil version continued to be the main contributor to the film’s overall earnings. On Day 9, it collected 10.60 crore nett from 3,616 shows while registering 49 percent occupancy.The Telugu version added Rs 1.60 crore from 1,371 shows and registered 24 percent occupancy.The occupation data has shown a clear increase as the days progress. The Tamil version had an overall occupancy of 47.21 percent. Morning shows opened at 25.46 percent before improving significantly. Evening occupancy touched 52.92 percent, while night shows reached 62.69 percent.The Telugu version also showed better attendance in the later sessions, with the overnight occupancy reaching 24.40 percent.

Tamil Nadu is the largest contributor

Tamil Nadu remained the film’s strongest market by far. The state brought in 10.35 crore gross on Day 9 alone.Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana generated Rs 1.60 crore each. Kerala contributed Rs 0.41 crore, while Rest of India contributed Rs 17 lakh.Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features Suriya as Saravana, a lawyer who functions as the human avatar of the deity Karuppusamy.

Actress Jyotika recently reacted to the overwhelming response Karuppu received from the audience and expressed her happiness over the film’s commercial success.In an interaction with Sudhir Srinivasan, the host compared Karuppu to Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and noted that while the film must inevitably be considered one of Suriya’s best works from a critical perspective, it delivered the theatrical celebration fans were looking for.Reacting to the sighting, Jyotika said, “We are very distressed.
