Suriya starrer ‘Karuppu’ has finally crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the worldwide box office. The mythological mass entertainer continues its strong theatrical run even as it enters its second week.The film directed by RJ Balaji has received positive reviews from the audience. ‘Karuppu’ crosses Rs 200 crore worldwide
According to Sacnilk, ‘Karuppu’ collected 7.80 crore nett on day 8 in India. The film earned 8.10 crores nett on day 7. That represents a slight drop of 3.7 percent on the second Friday. The film was screened in 4,521 shows on the 8th day. Its overall occupancy improved slightly to 31.4 percent, compared to 30.5 percent the previous day.With this, the film’s net collection in India has now reached 121.65 crores. The gross collection in India stands at 140.86 crores after eight days in theaters.The foreign market also continued to provide steady numbers. ‘Karuppu’ earned 3.50 crores overseas on Day 8, taking its total overseas gross to 60 crores.This has taken the film’s worldwide gross collection to an impressive 200.86 crores.
The Tamil version continues to lead
The Tamil version was the highest contributor to the film’s collections on Day 8. The film collected 6.80 crores from Tamil screens alone.Tamil occupation was 36 percent overall. Night shows were the best with 48.77 percent occupancy, while evening shows had 38.23 percent.The Telugu version earned Rs 1 crore on day 8. However, occupancy was lower overall by 20 percent.Tamil Nadu again emerged as the film’s strongest market. The state brought in 6.75 crore gross on Day 8 alone.The film collected Rs 1.10 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while Karnataka added Rs 75 lakh to the tally.

Actress Jyotika recently reacted to the success of ‘Karuppu’ on 60 Minutes with Sudhir on YouTube.Defending the film, Jyotika said that it is not a “pre-emptive” entertainer and added that the film has soul.“We are very anxious. I mean, you know… Suriya loves to tell good stories, and he always makes sure that there is a story in every film. But box office numbers are also necessary, I think, for heroes. Or for actors, any actor, any budget. No one is meant to be lost.
