Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new Night Edition versions of the GLE and GLS SUVs in the country. These are two of the brand’s best-selling luxury SUVs in their standard avatars. However, the limited series models are part of the global production run and will be available in limited numbers for the Indian market. Here’s a quick look at some of the key details you need to know.
Mercedes-Benz GLE GLS Night Editions: Key Details
The Night Edition range gets a blacked-out exterior treatment with two color options: Obsidian Black and a new Alpine Gray shade, which is exclusive to these special editions and not offered on the standard GLE and GLS. Both the SUVs also get unique cosmetic updates and extra equipment over the regular models.Prices for the GLE Night Edition start at Rs 1.05 crore, ex-showroom, for the GLE 300d, while the petrol-powered GLE 450 is priced at Rs 1.14 crore. In the GLS range, the GLS 450 Night Edition is priced at Rs 1.41 crore, while the GLS 450 D Night Edition is priced at Rs 1.43 crore. All prices are ex-showroom.On the outside, both the SUVs feature dark-themed styling elements. Inside, Mercedes-Benz has equipped Night Edition models with black nappa leather upholstery and anthracite open-pore oak wood trim, both exclusive to this edition. A head-up display is now offered as standard on both SUVs.The GLE Night Edition also gets pneumatic suspension as an additional upgrade over the standard model. Under the hood, there is no change in the mechanical setup. The GLE 300d uses a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 265 hp and 550 Nm, while the GLE 450 gets a 3.0-litre petrol engine that produces 375 hp and 500 Nm. The GLS 450 also uses the same petrol unit, while the GLS 450d is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces 362 hp and 750 Nm. All variants are mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox.
