Honda Cars India is all set to launch the new Honda City facelift in the Indian market tomorrow i.e. 22 May 2026. The sedan will compete against Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna in the Indian market. With advance bookings expected to start tomorrow, interested customers can book the car online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The new city is expected to get major cosmetic changes, new interior layout, additional features, better dynamics and safety. Ahead of its release tomorrow, let’s take a look at everything we know.Mechanically, it is expected to remain the same and will continue to get two engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine that produces 121bhp and 145Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed MT or CVT gearbox. It also offers the first hybrid powertrain in the segment: a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle hybrid engine with 124 hp and 253 Nm of torque. The new Honda City facelift will adopt a sharper design language, with a flatter, straighter front end than the current model. The updated styling seems to take inspiration from Honda’s new global products, with cleaner surfaces and a more modern look. The sedan is expected to retain its slim, upper-mounted DRLs, though the headlamp units seem to have been revised. The grille design also looks different, replacing the existing mesh pattern with horizontal elements. All these changes are expected to make the car look wider and sharper than before. Most of the side profile remains unchanged, including the sloping roofline, door design and ORVM. However, the updated model will feature a new alloy wheel design and will likely measure 16 inches. At the rear, the overall layout remains the same as the current car, although the taillamps appear to be redesigned and the bumper has also been updated, with vertically positioned reflectors replacing the existing horizontal units. Apart from these changes, the facelift is expected to retain most of the existing body structure and features. The facelifted Honda City is expected to get interior updates focused on features and comfort. Possible additions include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats and an updated infotainment system with better connectivity. The cabin may also get revised upholstery with new material or color options. Overall, the changes are expected to increase comfort and equipment levels without major changes to the interior layout.
