The director says that the role of “Dragon” was a difficult choice
Talking about their first discussion, Prashanth Neel revealed that he had narrated the project to Jr NTR almost five years ago. He said the actor immediately understood that the part would challenge his established screen image.Prashanth Neel said, “We met five years ago and when I told him about the film… I don’t think I want to be humble all the time, but I think this was probably one of the hardest decisions he had to make to play this character. Not because of what’s in the trailer, but what the drama of the film is. It was the biggest decision he’s ever made.”
They spent three years looking for the character’s motivation
The director explained that the story needed a believable emotional base. It took the writing team three years to establish the reasons behind the protagonist’s actions.He continued: “By the end of the film, everyone will know why I’m saying this. He’s a dark character. He’s probably darker than any character, no, he’s probably the darkest character I’ve ever written. He played something like that, and the only question he asked was whether every character was right or wrong, is this the right drama for it? Is there a reason for it? It does. In the end, he said, let’s do it. He is very dangerous for a star of his size. For someone who is loved across the country. ‘Dragon’ title and first look revealed
The film was earlier known with the working title NTRNeel. The official title, ‘Dragon’, was announced with a powerful teaser released just before Jr NTR’s birthday on 19th May.Sharing the teaser online, the makers wrote, “#NTRNeel is #Dragon. Here’s a #DragonGlimpse that takes you into his world and characters.” The first look presents a sad and atmospheric environment. The story takes place in 1967 and focuses on the Golden Triangle and the global opium trade.
