Madhya Pradesh opens applications for overseas scholarships for Masters and PhD aspirants from underserved category students

Madhya Pradesh Government has invited applications for the Overseas Scholarship Scheme for the academic session 2026-27 from January to June 2026. The objective of this scheme is to assist students seeking admission to Masters and PhD programs in foreign universities. Last date for submission of applications is 25 May 2026 by 6 PM.According to the details released by the Higher Education Department, the scholarship scheme will provide financial support to eligible students pursuing higher education abroad. Information regarding the scheme has been published on the official website of the department, while the office of the Commissioner of Higher Education, Satpura Bhavan, Bhopal will monitor the application process.Eligibility Criteria for ApplicantsThe guidelines of the scheme state that applicants should belong to the Scheduled Caste category and should be a resident of Madhya Pradesh. Candidates must possess permanent caste certificate issued by Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) or an officer of equivalent rank.Applicants should be above 18 years and below 35 years. The annual gross income of the applicant or guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs.6 lakhs. The department also states that the overseas institution chosen by the applicant should have a QS or Times World Ranking of 500 or less.Financial assistance under the schemeSelected students will receive financial assistance covering tuition fees, maintenance allowance, emergency expenses and travel expenses. The government will provide either the actual tuition fee amount or a maximum of US$ 40,000 per year.In addition, students will receive a maintenance allowance of US$ 9,000 per annum and an emergency allowance of US$ 1,000 per annum. The scheme will cover actual travel expenses to and from the country of study along with the visa fee.Selection process and application detailsApplications are being invited through advertisements issued by the Nodal Department at the HQ level. A maximum of 50 students will be selected under the scholarship program each year.Students can get additional information and application details through the website of the Department of Higher Education.
